While the clubhouse has seen incredible improvements, the course itself has fallen behind—but that’s changing. With new leadership, fresh investment, and a strategic vision, we’re ensuring that Malkins Bank is a place golfers are proud to call home once again.
New Leadership, New Direction
Graeme Bagnall Returns to Lead Golf Operations
We’re thrilled to welcome back Graeme Bagnall as Head of Golf Operations. During his previous tenure, the course thrived, and we’re confident that with his expertise, leadership, and deep understanding of the game, we will restore the high standards golfers expect.
IT Infrastructure Overhaul Led by Lewis Hancock
We’re proud to introduce Lewis Hancock as our new IT Infrastructure Lead. With a track record of modernizing systems for major companies like RSM, Sony, and Confused.com, he is here to streamline internal operations and improve the golfer experience. His key projects include:
New communication channels between departments.
Automated society booking systems.
Competition management integrated into BRS, making it easier than ever to join events.
Introduction of golf packages, offering new ways to play and stay.
Overhaul of internal processes to remove inefficiencies and modernize our approach.
Transparency & Communication
We understand that the past few years have brought uncertainty and speculation. That ends now.
Bi-weekly updates will keep you informed on course improvements and upcoming plans.
Slack implementation for staff ensures seamless communication between golf, hospitality, and the committee.

Revitalizing the Course
Greens, Bunkers, and Tee Boxes
Working alongside our talented Head Greenskeeper, Gareth Woosnam, we’ve made major investments in course maintenance:
New bunker sand and improvements are already underway and set to be completed in the coming weeks.
Tee box restoration: We’re moving back to our standard tee boxes within three weeks, with new tee posts crafted by Gareth himself.
Winter tee box enhancements are in planning for next season.
Major greens renovations are beginning now, including:
Spiking
Top dressing
Seeding
Fertilising
Spring conditioning
Extensive cleaning and decluttering: We know the course has looked tired, and we’re addressing it head-on. Expect to see plenty of staff working hard to give the course the facelift it deserves.
Driving Range Overhaul
We need to be honest—the driving range in its current state is simply not acceptable. We share your dissatisfaction, and quite frankly, it has been insulting to our members and visitors. With new leadership at the helm, we will ensure that nothing like this is ever presented to you again.
We have made the decision to give the driving range a fresh re-paint and a minor refurbishment to improve its appearance. While a long-term solution is still to be determined, we are committed to making it more visually appealing in the meantime.
Additionally, we will be implementing a barcode ordering system, allowing you to order beverages and food directly from your bay, with delivery straight to you! This infrastructure is already developed and ready to go—we are set to launch it by the summer, once the bad weather clears.

Bundled golf and clubhouse experiences to encourage more social and community-driven play.

We’re bridging the gap between the clubhouse and the course, ensuring they complement each other perfectly.

Membership audit: We’re reviewing existing offerings to ensure the best value and experience for our members.
More membership benefits: Easier access to competitions, discounts on bundled packages, and improved communication.
Faster response times and better support: With new leadership and modernized systems, expect quick and efficient service.
